• 7th Grade Initiative Interest Form (2026–2027)

  • 7th grade is a pivotal time in a young person’s life. The Summit Area YMCA’s 7th Grade Initiative (7GI) is a free program designed to help students build healthy habits, develop leadership skills, and form positive peer connections. The program is open to all 7th grade students who live in or attend school within our service area (Berkeley Heights, Gillette, Millburn, New Providence, Short Hills, Springfield, Stirling, and Summit). Offered at both the Berkeley Heights YMCA and Summit YMCA, 7GI provides a structured, supervised environment where students can stay active and engaged in their community.

  • PROGRAM INCLUDES 
    Access to Berkeley Heights YMCA & Summit YMCA  
    Teen Center, Fitness Center, and Open Gym  
    7GI-specific programs and workshops  
    Monthly social events  
    Community service opportunities

  • PROGRAM BENEFITS

  • PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS 
    To participate, students must: 
    Be enrolled in 7th grade during the 2026–2027 school year  
    Live or attend school in the YMCA service area  
    Complete the parent/student orientation  
    Attend the onboarding fitness demo 
    Participate in required workshops and community service  
    Follow all YMCA policies and Code of Conduct
